3,000 Kilgoris residents benefit from free diabetes treatment
Over 3000 residents from Kilgoris benefited from free medical camp courtesy of the Safaricom Foundation and The Kenya Diabetes Management and Information Center.
Residents turned up for free treatment at Kilgoris DEB Primary school.The medical camp offered a range of services including screening of breast, cervical and prostate cancer.it also offered other medical services that entailed dental care, eye check and general treatment.Trans Mara West Medical officer of Health Dr Lumarai noted that Trans Mara region is very vast and has few public health facilities numbering to about 30.Kenya Diabetes Management and Information Center Health coordinator, Joseph Mwangi said they were partnering with Safaricom foundation to sensitive Kenyans on diabetes. He noted that the nature of the pastoral communities where they constantly move due to their nomadic way of life leaves them exposed to a myriad of health challenges.
