A potential revolution in diabetes type 1 care: heat stability of insulin in tropical conditions
Beatrice Kaufmann, School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, University of Geneva, University of Lausanne, Geneva, Switzerland investigated the treatment for diabetic patients in tropical conditions. In order to achieve this, the stability of insulin under field conditions needs to be assessed. The delivery of insulin in tropical settings is possible if guidelines are followed. These guidelines include avoiding continuous exposure of insulin to temperatures above 31 degrees Celsius, avoiding freezing and direct sunlight exposure.
