Two St. Pete/Clearwater beaches were voted into the Top 10 of TripAdvisor’s 2016 Traveler’s Choice Awards of the Top U.S. Beaches, which is based on millions of traveler reviews. Beautiful Clearwater Beach, which checked in at No. 1, not only has brilliant white sands but also Pier 60, a hub of hubbub and a great place to catch the sunset. On laid-back St. Pete Beach, which landed at No. 4 on the list, take a nice long break at one of the classic beach hotels, or at the world-famous “Pink Palace,” the Loews Don CeSar.
If weathered beach bars and an Old Florida vibe are more what you’re looking for, hang out in Treasure Island or Pass-a-Grille. For active families, Fort De Soto can’t be beaten—with its gorgeous beaches along with playgrounds, picnic areas, camping, watersports and even a historic fort that kids love to explore.
Craving an island getaway? There’s no place quite like Honeymoon Island and Caladesi Island, especially during a weekday. These are completely undeveloped Florida beaches that are only accessible by boat—so you’re guaranteed a blissful break.
You’ll be able to find your happy place on this 35-mile stretch of Florida beaches. Sip a cocktail with your toes in the sand, fly over the water in a parasail, or finally try your hand (and feet) at stand-up paddleboarding. Health Care & Social Assistance sector comprises firms providing health care and social assistance for individuals. The sector includes both health care and social assistance because it is sometimes difficult to distinguish between the boundaries of these two activities. The services provided in this sector are delivered by trained health practitioners and social workers with requisite experience. Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation is the leading global organization funding T1D research. Millions of people around the world live with type 1 diabetes (T1D), a life-threatening autoimmune disease that strikes both children and adults. There is no way to prevent it, and at present, no cure. JDRF works every day to change this by amassing grassroots support, deep scientific knowledge and strong industry and academic partnerships to fund research.
The JDRF identity was created with these key considerations in mind. We have dropped the formal name “Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation” from our identity and will be known simply as JDRF. This better reflects our commitment to work for ALL those with T1D.
The graphic element of “T1D” in the logo design reinforces our focus on T1D, while the “momentum lines” that frame the JDRF name help to communicate the energy and urgency with which we are pursuing our mission. Most important, it is reflective of both the progress we’ve made and the accelerated progress we aim for. Type 1 diabetes (T1D) is an autoimmune disease in which a person’s pancreas stops producing insulin, a hormone people need to get energy from food. T1D strikes both children and adults at any age and suddenly. Its onset has nothing to do with diet or lifestyle. Though T1D’s causes are not yet entirely understood, scientists believe that both genetic factors and environmental triggers play a role. There is currently nothing you can do to prevent it, and there is no cure. Type 1 diabetes strikes both children and adults at any age. It comes on suddenly, causes dependence on injected or pumped insulin for life, and carries the constant threat of devastating complications. Diabetes can affect how you feel each day. If your blood glucose level is too high or too low (hypoglycemia), you may not feel well. Keeping your blood glucose in a target range will help you feel your best. People with type 1 diabetes must take insulin several times a day to keep their blood glucose under control. JDRF’s goal is to progressively remove the impact of T1D from people’s lives until we achieve a world without T1D. JDRF has led the search for a cure for T1D since our founding in 1970. In those days, people commonly called the disease “juvenile diabetes” because it was frequently diagnosed in, and strongly associated with, young children. Our organization began as the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation. Later, to emphasize exactly how we planned to end the disease, we added a word and became the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.Today, we know an equal number of children and adults are diagnosed every day—approximately 110 people per day.
