About/Charity Organization/Gresham Oregon/Researching Type 1 Diabetes

Welcome to http://contributenow.jdrftypeone.com
JDRF has led the search for a cure for T1D since our founding in 1970. In those days, people commonly called the disease ‘juvenile diabetes’ because it was frequently diagnosed in, and strongly associated with, young children. Our organization began as the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation. Later, to emphasize exactly how we planned to end the disease, we added a word and became the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.Today, we know an equal number of children and adults are diagnosed every day—approximately 110 people per day. Thanks to better therapies—which JDRF funding has been instrumental in developing and making available—people with T1D live longer and stay healthier while they await the cure. So a few years ago, we changed our name to JDRF: Juvenile Diabetes Reseach Foundation. List of Video Credits can be found here http://broadcaster.beazil.net/public/credits/youtube/videos/49021 JDRF is the leading global organization funding type 1 diabetes (T1D) research. Our mission is to accelerate life-changing breakthroughs to cure, prevent and treat T1D and its complications. To accomplish this, JDRF has invested nearly $2 billion in research funding since our inception. We are an organization built on a grassroots model of people connecting in their local communities; collaborating regionally for efficiency and broader fundraising impact; and uniting on a national stage to pool resources, passion, and energy. We collaborate with academic institutions policymakers and corporate and industry partners to develop and deliver a pipeline of innovative therapies to people living with T1D. JDRF Walk is one of the largest fundraising events. Most people think that the walk is a single day event. Aaron Gurley, JDRF board member shares his experience in this field. He says, that the Walk isn’t a simple funny single day event – it’s 365 days walk for cure. JDRF team every day fundraises money for the research and the walk is one form of this activity. For every T1D person it’s very important to see all people who came to support them. Aaron tells that the walk isn’t about just walking in a funny T-shirt and eating hot-dogs – it’s about raising money. People should be aware about this. Board member must organize the event to reach most of people. Aaron’s team does a garage sale every year to fundraise and that really does help. Excluded from this sector are aerobic classes in Subsector 713, Amusement, Gambling, and Recreation Industries and nonmedical diet and weight reducing centers in Subsector 812, Personal and Laundry Services. Although these can be viewed as health services, these services are not typically delivered by health practitioners. The Gresham Pioneer Cemetery is owned and maintained by Metro, the regional government for the Oregon part of the Portland metropolitan area. Miyo Iwakoshi, thought to be the first Japanese person to live in Oregon, is buried here. Metro provides a downloadable map of the cemetery, although names are not listed.
The three cemeteries are among the 14 pioneer cemeteries in Multnomah County, Oregon, that are managed by Metro. The others are Brainard Cemetery, Columbia Pioneer Cemetery, Douglass Cemetery, Grand Army of the Republic Cemetery, Jones Cemetery, Lone Fir Cemetery, Mountain View Corbett Cemetery, Mountain View Stark Cemetery, Multnomah Park Cemetery, Pleasant Home Cemetery, and Powell Grove Cemetery. Type 1 diabetes (Juvenile Diabetes) is usually diagnosed in children and young adults, and was previously known as juvenile diabetes. Only 5% of people with diabetes have this form of the disease. In type 1 diabetes, the body does not produce insulin. The body breaks down the sugars and starches you eat into a simple sugar called glucose, which it uses for energy. Insulin is a hormone that the body needs to get glucose from the bloodstream into the cells of the body. With the help of insulin therapy and other treatments, even young children can learn to manage their condition and live long, healthy lives.
