Since its founding more than 40 years ago by parents of children affected by type 1 diabetes, the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) has been committed to finding a cure for all those individuals living with the disease. Today, JDRF acknowledges that this commitment will not likely be fulfilled in the near term. Although our ultimate goal—curing type 1 diabetes—remains unchanged, we are equally committed to better treating and preventing the disease. These goals aim to ensure that both children and adults living with type 1 diabetes remain healthy so that they can fully benefit from a cure when it becomes available. JDRF focuses on supporting the development and delivery of new therapies and devices that will ease the daily burden and challenges of managing type 1 diabetes and on the prevention of diabetes complications. Additionally to protect future generations from developing type 1 diabetes JDRF is supporting approaches to prevent the disease. http://www.louisvillefoundation.org/wp-content/uploads/2012/04/2014-2015_UofL_Foundation_Donor_Honor_Roll-WEB.pdf jdrf kentucky aflred f. In those days, people commonly called the disease ‘juvenile diabetes’ because it was frequently diagnosed in, and strongly associated with, young children. Our organization began as the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation. Later, to emphasize exactly how we planned to end the disease, we added a word and became the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.Today, we know an equal number of children and adults are diagnosed every day—approximately 110 people per day. Thanks to better therapies—which JDRF funding has been instrumental in developing and making available—people with T1D live longer and stay healthier while they await the cure. So a few years ago, we changed our name to JDRF: Juvenile Diabetes Reseach Foundation. Sometimes its possible to divert money you would normally have to spend on other things towards charitable causes and still achieve your desired outcome. Instead of buying your morning cup of coffee, you are welcomed to donate those $5 to poor T1D children. $5 is not a big deal, but for poor kids, this is a hope for better future, without Type One Diabetes. So, instead of buying your $5 cup of coffee, use it to save poor children, affected by T1D. The Health Care and Social Assistance sector comprises establishments providing health care and social assistance for individuals. The industries in this sector include physician’s offices, hospitals, medical laboratories, nursing homes, and youth and family service centers. Norwalk city, Los Angeles county, southwestern California, U.S. Located 17 miles (27 km) southeast of Los Angeles, the city was originally inhabited by Chumash Indians. The area was once a part of the Rancho Los Coyotes, a subdivision (1834) of the 1784 Spanish land grant known as Rancho Los Nietos. In 1869 Gilbert and Atwood Sproul purchased the land, and in 1873, after the railroad crossed the ‘North-walk’ area, the Sprouls founded the city as Corvallis; the following year it was renamed Norwalk. The city developed as a service point for logging, dairying, and ranching. Norwalk was also known as a centre for some of southern California’s largest sugar beet farms. We are JDRF – Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. We won’t stop until we create a world without T1D (type one diabetes). We are committed to eradicating type 1 diabetes and its effects for everyone with type 1, and at risk of developing it. T1D treatment options are improving all the time. We are driving research to improve the technology people with T1D use to monitor blood sugar levels and research that will ultimately deliver a cure. Diabetes is a lifelong condition that causes a person’s blood sugar (glucose) level to become too high. The hormone insulin – is responsible for controlling the amount of glucose in the blood.
