JDRF is the leading global organization funding type 1 diabetes (T1D) research. JDRF’s goal is to progressively remove the impact of T1D from people’s lives until we achieve a world without T1D. Media Credits Column http://broadcaster.beazil.net/public/credits/youtube/videos/134433 Insulin is a hormone our body makes. It is made by beta cells in the pancreas. Insulin’s main job is to move glucose from our bloodstream into the body’s cells to make energy. It keeps our blood glucose levels within the normal range. If you have insufficient insulin, the glucose stays in your bloodstream, reducing the amount of energy made in your body. With type 1 diabetes, the body does not make insulin and has to rely on insulin being injected regularly throughout the day to stay alive. With type 2 diabetes, the body does not make enough insulin, or the insulin that is made does not work well. Injecting insulin is much easier than most people imagine. Many different insulin injection devices are available. The main choices are syringes, insulin pens and insulin pumps. Type 1 Diabetes can occur at any age, but most commonly is diagnosed from infancy to the late 30s. Type 1 diabetes happens when your immune system destroys cells in your pancreas called beta cells. They’re the ones that make insulin. What Treatments are Used for Type 1 Diabetes?
The two goals of diabetes treatment are to make sure you feel well day-to-day and to prevent or delay long-term health problems. The best way to reach those goals is by:
– taking insulin
– planning your meals—choosing what, how much, and when to eat
– being physically active
You want a cure. So does JDRF. And we are committed to funding the development of new therapies and treatments to keep people with T1D healthier, longer, until that cure is found. That’s why we invest in multiple therapeutic approaches to cure, prevent and treat T1D. JDRF is the leading diabetes foundation funding T1D research. JDRF’s goal is to progressively remove the impact of T1D from people’s lives until we achieve a world without T1D. JDRF collaborates with a wide spectrum of partners and is the only organization with the scientific resources, regulatory influence, and a working plan to better treat, prevent, and eventually cure T1D. JDRF is currently sponsoring $530 million in scientific research in 17 countries. In 2012 alone, JDRF provided more than $110 million to T1D research. JDRF’s goal is a world without type 1 diabetes (T1D). As a city, Beaumont respects the enormous sacrifices made by police and fire personnel. It is with pride that we inscribe on the memorial the name, rank, and agency of their loved one. Memorial bricks and limited edition Public Safety Memorial Challenge Coins are available for purchase at the Beaumont Civic Center. Donations may be earmarked for the “Public Safety Memorial Fund” and mailed to the Beaumont Civic Center:
550 E. Sixth St. Beaumont, CA 92223. The memorial, in a rose garden setting, consists of three granite slabs where names of police officers and firefighters who died in the line of duty or served our communities during their lifetime are honored. Excluded from this sector are aerobic classes in Subsector 713, Amusement, Gambling, and Recreation Industries and nonmedical diet and weight reducing centers in Subsector 812, Personal and Laundry Services. Although these can be viewed as health services, these services are not typically delivered by health practitioners.
