Daily Calorie Intake Calculator

These questions arise when a person having diabetes wants to have a diet:

  • How many calories should I eat everyday?
  • What kind of foods?
  • How many food servings?

The best way to plan a diabetic diet meal is to first determine the nutritional needs of a person with diabetes and the quantities of fat, protein, carbohydrate, and then calculating the equivalent total calories needed per day. This information is converted into recommendation for types and quantity of foods to be incorporated in the daily diet. Although, you can make your own diet plan for diabetes, it is recommended that every person having diabetes must consult a registered Dietitian to prepare for his diet plan.

When you have determined your daily calorie intake, find your total daily calorie level on the chart below and look at the types of food recommended. Using the chart, plan your menus for the day with serving amounts from each group. Look at the sample meal plan below to see how you can do this. Give your meals variety by choosing other items from the same food groups.
