Pharmacist Ben Fuchs fills in for Dr. Wallach beginning the show discussing diabetes. Citing a recent news article about a study where researchers used a plant compound called ‘harmine’ that induced the body to start generating beta cells in the pancreas. Meaning that there is now hope for type 1 diabetics. If this compound can help to regenerate the type 1 diabetics can rebuild their pancreas and possibly get off of the drugs.

Doug Winfrey and Ben Fuchs discuss a news article concerning a study of plant based diets. Researchers from Loma Linda University found those eating a plant based diet but eating fish at least once a month had a 43% reduction in risk of colorectal cancer. Those eating plants and dairy and eggs limiting fish and meat to less than once a month have a 18% reduced chance of colorectal cancer. Those eating fish or meat at least once a week had an 8% risk reduction.
