Diabetes and Social Security Disability Claims

Social Security recognizes that diabetes can disable you from all competitive work. However, it is not enough that you have been diagnosed with diabetes – instead, you have to show that you experience frequent and severe complications from your diagnosis such that you would not be reliable or able to function at even a simple, entry-level job.

In this video I explain how I approach claims involving diabetes. Obviously there are some cases where my client’s blood sugar has been so out of control for months or years that permanent neurological damage has occurred. Those cases are often approved.

But there are many other cases where my client’s diabetes has not reached disabling severity yet my client’s symptoms can still help win a claim.

If you have been diagnosed with either Type I or Type II diabetes and you are finding it more and more difficult to perform the duties of a full time job, you may qualify for disability under Social Security’s rules. Let me know if I can help.
