Approximately 1.25 million American children and adults have type 1 diabetes in the United States. Diabetes is the primary cause of death for 69,071 Americans each year. About 3,591,000 people in Illinois have prediabetes. 21 million Americans have diagnosed diabetes. Approximately 1,342,070 people in Illinois, or 12.8% of the population, people are living with diabetes. Total annual cost impact of diabetes in Illinois estimated at $12.2 billion. People with diabetes have medical expenses approximately 2.3 times higher than those who do not have diabetes. Total direct medical expenses in Illinois in 2012 for diagnosed diabetes, gestational diabetes and prediabetes was estimated at $9.4 billion. As of 2010-2014, the total population of Hanover Park is 38,302, which is 0.06% more than it was in 2000. The population growth rate is lower than the state average rate of 3.62% and is much lower than the national average rate of 11.61%.
