Eisenhower Medical Center, NPD 2015 Outstanding Philanthropic Corporation
As Coachella Valley’s only not for profit hospital, philanthropy is at the forefront of Eisenhower Medical Center’s values. The Center, originally funded by great philanthropists, has been serving the changing healthcare needs of our region for 45 years.
With its 3,000+ employees, staff and volunteers, Eisenhower Medical Center sponsored 60 not-for-profit events last year and participated in and held leadership positions in numerous community agencies and fraternal organizations. Examples include Desert AIDS Project, American Heart Association, American Cancer Society, American Diabetes Association, Arthritis Foundation, Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation Association, local Chambers of Commerce, Coachella Valley Economic Partnership, Rotary International, and the Lions Club.
Some 765 devoted volunteers recently reached a new milestone: 5 million hours of community service over four decades! Staff and volunteers participated in health fairs and business expos and clinical staff provided leadership and training in its Centers of Excellence—cancer, cardiovascular, professional education, child abuse services and many others
Staff performed an auxiliary role as well, helping to educate local students on career opportunities through job shadowing and by supporting CVEP’s Career Pathways Initiative’s Health Care Career Academies.
Eisenhower is the first area medical center to establish a teaching program for physicians in internal and family medicine. Now in its third year the program has achieved full maturity with 55 residents in training.
Residents and visitors alike are fortunate to benefit from the visionary leadership and philanthropic heart of this extraordinary community partner.
CONGRATULATIONS EISENHOWER MEDICAL CENTER, OUTSTANDING PHILNATHROPIC CORPORATION.
