Become acquainted with us at http://pleasebegenerous.jdrftype1.com
We are JDRF – Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. We won’t stop until we create a world without T1D (type one diabetes). We are committed to eradicating type 1 diabetes and its effects for everyone with type 1, and at risk of developing it. T1D treatment options are improving all the time. We are driving research to improve the technology people with T1D use to monitor blood sugar levels and research that will ultimately deliver a cure.
Diabetes is a lifelong condition that causes a person’s blood sugar (glucose) level to become too high. The hormone insulin – is responsible for controlling the amount of glucose in the blood.
JDRF’s Mission: is to prevent and cure diabetes and to improve the lives of all people affected by this disease.
JDRF – the type 1 diabetes charity. Join the worldwide army of people who are making it their personal mission to fight type 1 diabetes. Together, we will create a world without type 1 diabetes. Here is a full list of video credits http://broadcaster.beazil.net/public/credits/youtube/videos/187158 JDRF is focused on bringing life-changing therapies from the lab to the community by impacting every stage of the drug delivery pipeline. Working the pipeline to expedite and sustain meaningful scientific progress, made possible by our donors, is the key to delivering progressively advanced therapies. This means:
– Driving research across the entire scientific and development spectrum, from discovery in the laboratory to delivery in patients
– Collaborating with public, private, academic and corporate partners to expedite delivery of real-world solutions
– Advocating for progress that will improve lives today and lead to a cure tomorrow JDRF is uniquely positioned to create a future without T1D. Tom Brobson, JDRF National Director of the research investment opportunities shows all the advantages of the new JDRF device. Artificial pancreas (AP) systems will automate blood-sugar management, dramatically reducing T1D-related risks and improving lives of people who have the disease. These systems will monitor glucose levels around the clock and automatically provide the right amount of insulin, and potentially other blood-sugar stabilizing hormones, at the right time. The heart of the system—sophisticated computer algorithms that live on a smartphone or similar device—will link to a continuous glucose monitor sensor and insulin pump to determine blood sugar trends and control insulin delivery. The Health Care and Social Assistance industry includes establishments and services such as: hospitals, nursing and residential care facilities and out-patient care centres; offices of health practitioners (i.e. dentists, doctors, optometrists and chiropractors); medical and diagnostic laboratories; home health care services; ambulance services; social assistance services (i.e. for children, youth, the elderly, families); community food, housing, emergency and relief services; vocational rehabilitation services; and daycare services. The people of Terrebonne lived in seclusion for generations and continued family traditions, including their unique dialect of French language, music, dance and cooking. It wasn’t until the debut of oil and natural gas in 1929 that many portions of Terrebonne Parish were introduced to the outside world. Today, our heritage is still celebrated through the area’s many festivals. Take 300 years of history, add in 2,500 square miles of moss-draped wetlands, and throw in a few pirate kings, werewolves, swamp monsters, voodoo priestesses, indians and faith healers and you will begin to see the rich tapestry of legends that have woven themselves around and through Houma, Louisiana. JDRF has led the search for a cure for T1D since our founding in 1970. In those days, people commonly called the disease “juvenile diabetes” because it was frequently diagnosed in, and strongly associated with, young children. Our organization began as the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation. Later, to emphasize exactly how we planned to end the disease, we added a word and became the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.Today, we know an equal number of children and adults are diagnosed every day—approximately 110 people per day. Thanks to better therapies—which JDRF funding has been instrumental in developing and making available—people with T1D live longer and stay healthier while they await the cure.
