You’re the reason for our success. Every dollar we put toward research comes from donations. So when you support JDRF with your time, talent, voice and, yes, your money, you enable us to advance even more research. There are many ways to join the JDRF family, but for 45 years there has been only one reason—because we are the organization that will turn Type One into Type None. Take Action – Don’t be indifferent! Downtown is located immediately east of the confluence of Little Dry Creek and the South Platte River, between Santa Fe Drive and Broadway. JDRF organizes one social event – Ride to cure diabetes. JDRF does that with the help of George Hincapie, one of the most celebrated cyclists in history. George talks to JDRF and explains his reasons of JDRF ride – he also wants to cure diabetes. In 2014 he first participated in JDRF Ride and included JDRF in his Hincapie Gran Fondo. His route is an exciting event. The views are amazing, three different choices and what is the most important thing-his ride isn’t a race but a ride to find the cure. Hincapie’s route has nice country roads and great scenery. George has found the most quite and scenic roads for his route. His favorite part is the Skyuka Mountain because in autumn the colors are amazing. Diabetes is the name given to disorders in which the body has trouble regulating its blood glucose or blood sugar levels. There are two major types of diabetes: type 1 and type 2. Type 1 diabetes (T1D) is an autoimmune disease in which a person’s pancreas stops producing insulin, a hormone that enables people to get energy from food. Type 2 diabetes is a metabolic disorder in which a person’s body still produces insulin but is unable to use it effectively. JDRF is the leading global organization focused on type 1 diabetes (T1D) research. Driven by passionate, grassroots volunteers connected to children, adolescents, and adults with this disease, JDRF is the largest charitable supporter of T1D research. In type 1 diabetes, the body does not produce insulin. The body breaks down the sugars and starches you eat into a simple sugar called glucose, which it uses for energy. Insulin is a hormone that the body needs to get glucose from the bloodstream into the cells of the body. With the help of insulin therapy and other treatments, even young children can learn to manage their condition and live long, healthy lives.
