It is a small affluent residential suburb located between Belmont to the north and Redwood City to the south. The population was 28,406 at the 2010 census. T1D can be living in anyone, it comes in all shapes and sizes, different colors, forms. When you have diabetes, you pancreas doesn’t produce insulin. It’s not caused by your diet, it’s not caused by anything you did. T1D can be very serious, the biggest fear all T1D people have is the diabetes complications, which are not always predictable. Parents of T1D children always are in charge of their kids’ life. Diabetes never gives you a second off, it’s always on your mind. It’s really hard to have diabetes, but the families and friends push them every day to be strong. That is what keeps most of T1D people keep along. Every T1D person has a lot of highs and a lot of lows; it’s not easy to explain what it is to manage diabetes every second of your life. People with diabetes prick their fingers a lot and constant insulin injections. It’s what diabetics do every day to survive. JDRF’s goal is to progressively remove the impact of T1D from people’s lives until we achieve a world without T1D. Type 1 diabetes in children used to be known as juvenile diabetes or insulin-dependent diabetes. Alternative Names of T1D: Insulin-dependent diabetes; Juvenile onset diabetes; Diabetes – type 1. Type 1 Diabetes – In type 1 diabetes, your immune system mistakenly destroys the cells in your pancreas that make insulin. Your body treats these cells as invaders and destroys them. This can happen over a few weeks, months, or years. When enough beta cells are destroyed, your pancreas stops making insulin, or makes too little insulin. Because the pancreas does not make insulin, insulin needs to be replaced. Insulin does not come in a pill.
