Diabetes is very predominant in India, especially Type 2 diabetes and we know that diabetes is not just the management of the blood sugar. It is actually a syndrome. It is multifactorial and that’s why it is important to treat other factors as well as the blood sugars. Blood pressure is a very important coexisting disease. It comes to about 60 to 70% of the diabetes people or the Type 2 diabetes people who have blood pressure and there are several international guidelines which talk about blood pressure and diabetes especially because it has a lot of comorbidities such as cardiovascular problems, like people have heart attack, heart failure, people have other complications of other organs which means that blood pressure is also an important feature when we treat diabetes. It is equally important to manage diabetes and blood pressure equally well as per the guidelines, the best possible way.
