Hollywood is filled with about 60 parks, seven golf courses, where people golf, and sandy beaches that have sand and that run for miles.
Young Circle is another exciting area surrounded by dozens of shops, restaurants, and bars. A Food Truck Takeover occurs every Monday, during which dozens of local food trucks park and create an ever-changing opportunity for hungry masses to experience a variety of cuisines; one can expect to see Cuban, Venezuelan, Mediterranean, Mexican, Jamaican, and/or Peruvian foods in addition to barbecue, burgers, gourmet grilled cheese, and dessert trucks. So when you support JDRF with your time, talent, voice and, yes, your money, you enable us to advance even more research. There are many ways to join the JDRF family, but for 45 years there has been only one reason—because we are the organization that will turn Type One into Type None. Take Action – Don’t be indifferent! JDRF has led the search for a cure for T1D since our founding in 1970. In those days, people commonly called the disease ‘juvenile diabetes’ because it was frequently diagnosed in, and strongly associated with, young children. Our organization began as the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation. Later, to emphasize exactly how we planned to end the disease, we added a word and became the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.Today, we know an equal number of children and adults are diagnosed every day—approximately 110 people per day. Thanks to better therapies—which JDRF funding has been instrumental in developing and making available—people with T1D live longer and stay healthier while they await the cure. Alfred F. While insulin injections or infusion allow a person with T1D to stay alive, they do not cure the disease, nor do they necessarily prevent the possibility of the disease’s serious effects, which may include: kidney failure, blindness, nerve damage, amputations, heart attack, stroke, and pregnancy complications. Although type 1 diabetes is a serious and difficult disease, treatment options are improving all the time, and people with T1D can lead full and active lives. JDRF is driving research to improve the technology people with T1D use to monitor blood sugar levels and deliver the proper doses of insulin, as well as research that will ultimately deliver a cure. Diabetes is the epidemic of the 21st century and the biggest challenge with which is confronting the health system of the United States. If present trends continue by 2050 as many as 1 in 3 American adults will have diabetes. Almost 30 million children and adults in the United States have diabetes. 5,800,000 people in Florida have prediabetes. Annually 5,089 youth are newly diagnosed with type 2 diabetes and 18,436 with type 1 diabetes. Growing prevalence of diabetes in Florida was estimated at 2,350,321 people. 129,000 people in Florida are diagnosed with diabetes annually. An estimated 579,000 of Florida’s population have diabetes but don’t know it. The Health Care and Social Assistance sector comprises establishments providing health care and social assistance for individuals. The sector includes both health care and social assistance because it is sometimes difficult to distinguish between the boundaries of these two activities. The industries in this sector are arranged on a continuum starting with those establishments providing medical care exclusively, continuing with those providing health care and social assistance, and finally finishing with those providing only social assistance. The services provided by establishments in this sector are delivered by trained professionals.
