How to reverse type 2 diabetes naturally
You are probably familiar with the term diabetes and may very well know people who are diabetic. You may not know exactly what it is (I didn’t) so let me explain that first.
What is type 2 diabetes? Type 2 diabetes in basically where someone has too much sugar or glucose in the blood. Glucose is the primary fuel source of many cells in the body, the glucose in our blood must be shuttled into our cells. This is done with the help of a hormone called insulin, made in the pancreas.
Insulin is the signal for glucose to leave the bloodstream and enter our liver, fat and muscle cells. Pre diabetic and diabetic people have gradually lost their sensitivity to the hormone, meaning the pancreas needs to pump out more and more of it for the sugar to pass into the cells. Eventually, they become so insensitive to it that they become ‘insulin resistant’.
Type 2 diabetes is believed to be called by diet and is reversible; however, type 1 diabetes is caused by an autoimmune response, resulting in the pancreases inability to produce insulin. The cause of type 2 diabetes is believed to be our modern diet and constant intake of carbs and sugars all day long, which spike our insulin levels above a normal healthy range.
Why is Type 2 diabetes bad?
Insulin resistance is a primary contributing factor to many chronic diseases. High blood sugar itself can lead to a host of problems, including –
Fatty liver disease
When we eat, our bodies will store energy, but when we fast, our bodies will burn energy.
Fasting is the fastest way to lower (we never truly deplete it) your blood glucose. Once you stop eating, your body will go straight to glucose in the blood as the most accessible form of energy. A twelve hour fast everyday will do wonders. It’s really as straight forward as that!
If you don’t have diabetes to begin with, then this strategy will obviously help to prevent diabetes, as you are never allowing your blood sugar levels to reach the heights that lead to insulin resistance.
