I Am an Ada Artist: A Public Art, Public Health Project
With a quarter of the population of African-American women caught in the battle against obesity and diabetes, best-selling novelist Alice Randall decided to tackle this public health issue in a “novel” way: with words. Her book, Ada’s Rules, invites the reader to journey along with Ada as she reinvents her outlook on health and body image, and works toward transforming her “deathstyle into a lifestyle.”
I Am an Ada Artist is a public health/performance art project that invites 6,000 African-American women to re-imagine and add their stories, wisdom, and artistry to the original Ada’s Rules text.
