JDRF’s goal is to progressively remove the impact of T1D from people’s lives until we achieve a world without T1D. JDRF is leading the way in establishing measurement guidelines and holding itself accountable to supporters. JDRF has developed transparent organizational goals, as well as a set of research and advocacy objectives and outcomes for the current year by which organizational success will be measured. JDRF works towards a day when there is no more type 1 diabetes. Type 1 diabetes is usually diagnosed in children and young adults, and was previously known as juvenile diabetes. In type 1 diabetes, the body does not produce insulin. Diabetes – is a problem with your body that causes blood glucose (sugar) levels to rise higher than normal. This is also called hyperglycemia. When you eat your body breaks food down into glucose and sends it into the blood. Insulin then helps move the glucose from the blood into your cells. When glucose enters your cells, it is either used as fuel for energy right away or stored for later use. In a person with diabetes, there is a problem with insulin. Children’s Congress at Washington 2013 was a great social event. Hundreds of volunteers took part in helping JDRF team. The song of this congress was written by Crystal, JDRF official member. The song was “Promise to remember me” sang by all Congress participants. Children’s chorus made a great impression. The most important thing is that the goal was reached – the Artificial Pancreas was released thanks to 2013 Children’s Congress. During the Congress all participants shared their T1D stories with others and so the communication was perfect. Small kids have been diagnosed very early and their life became completely different. Elizabeth, originally called “Elizabethtown” and part of the Elizabethtown Tract, was founded in 1664 by English settlers. The town was not named for Queen Elizabeth I as many people may assume, but rather for Elizabeth, wife of Sir George Carteret, one of the two original Proprietors of the colony of New Jersey. She was the daughter of Philippe de Carteret II, 3rd Seigneur de Sark and Anne Dowse. The town served as the first capital of New Jersey. During the American Revolutionary War, Elizabethtown was continually attacked by British forces based on Manhattan and Staten Island, culminating in the Battle of Springfield which decisively defeated British attempts to gain New Jersey.
