Originally part of Potawatomi Native American landscape, the Lombard area was first settled by Americans of European descent in the 1830s. Lombard shares its early history with Glen Ellyn. Brothers Ralph and Morgan Babcock settled in a grove of trees along the DuPage River. In what was known as Babcock’s Grove, Lombard developed to the east and Glen Ellyn to the west. In 1837, Babcock’s Grove was connected to Chicago by a stagecoach line which stopped at Stacy’s Tavern at Geneva and St. Charles Roads. Fertile land, the DuPage River, and plentiful timber drew farmers to the area. JDRF ride is to cure diabetes and hundreds of people join this event and have one single goal – to find the ultimate cure. The city of Nashville is one of the cities which hosts the ride. The riders share their emotions about this event. Everyone can participate and it’s very exciting. The ride starts early in the morning, when it’s still dark outside. The national anthem is an inherent part of the event. All the people sing the anthem in one voice. The riders train a lot and people fundraise. Rider’s families come to encourage them and to cheer. JDRF ride participants are always excited about the ride and the overall spirit is high. The ride is especially important for the T1D people, because they can do it together with the others and keep healthy and feet. Everyone should join JDRF Ride to create a world without T1D. In type 1 diabetes, the body does not produce insulin. The body breaks down the sugars and starches you eat into a simple sugar called glucose, which it uses for energy. Insulin is a hormone that the body needs to get glucose from the bloodstream into the cells of the body. With the help of insulin therapy and other treatments, even young children can learn to manage their condition and live long, healthy lives.
Type 1 diabetes signs and symptoms can come on quickly and may include:
Bed wetting in children who previously didn’t wet the bed during the night;
Extreme hunger;Unintended weight loss;
Irritability and other mood changes;
Fatigue and weakness;
In females, a vaginal yeast infection. JDRF is the leading global organization funding type 1 diabetes (T1D) research. JDRF’s goal is to progressively remove the impact of T1D from people’s lives until we achieve a world without T1D. Excluded from this sector are aerobic classes in Subsector 713, Amusement, Gambling, and Recreation Industries and nonmedical diet and weight reducing centers in Subsector 812, Personal and Laundry Services. Although these can be viewed as health services, these services are not typically delivered by health practitioners. JDRF is the leading diabetes foundation funding T1D research. JDRF’s goal is to progressively remove the impact of T1D from people’s lives until we achieve a world without T1D. JDRF collaborates with a wide spectrum of partners and is the only organization with the scientific resources, regulatory influence, and a working plan to better treat, prevent, and eventually cure T1D. JDRF is currently sponsoring $530 million in scientific research in 17 countries. In 2012 alone, JDRF provided more than $110 million to T1D research.
