Diabetes is the name given to disorders in which the body has trouble regulating its blood glucose or blood sugar levels. There are two major types of diabetes: type 1 and type 2. Type 1 diabetes (T1D) is an autoimmune disease in which a person’s pancreas stops producing insulin, a hormone that enables people to get energy from food. Type 2 diabetes is a metabolic disorder in which a person’s body still produces insulin but is unable to use it effectively.
JDRF is the leading global organization focused on type 1 diabetes (T1D) research. Driven by passionate, grassroots volunteers connected to children, adolescents, and adults with this disease, JDRF is the largest charitable supporter of T1D research.

Although these can be viewed as health services, these services are not typically delivered by health practitioners. Living with T1D is a constant balancing act. People with T1D must regularly monitor their blood-sugar level, inject or continually infuse insulin through a pump, and carefully balance their insulin doses with eating and daily activities throughout the day and night.
T1D is a serious and stressful disease to manage. Treatment options are improving all the time, and people with T1D are able to lead normal, productive and inspiring lives. JDRF is driving research to improve the technology people with T1D use to monitor blood-sugar levels and deliver the proper doses of insulin, as well as research that will ultimately deliver a cure. But even with intensive disease management, a significant portion of their day is still spent with high or low blood-sugar levels, placing people with T1D at risk for devastating complications such as heart attack, stroke, blindness, kidney disease and amputation. JDRF is a global organization whose ultimate goal is to find a cure for diabetes. We are making a research to turn type one diabetes into type none. This journey towards the world without diabetes is long, but we are not going to give up in no case. We are trying to involve in this journey as many people as possible. The research needs money and people’s support to be continued. Every dollar donated to T1D Research makes a difference. Any support helps us to be a step closer towards the world without T1D. Be a part of us! Join our “ride for cure” type! JDRF is the leading global organization funding type 1 diabetes (T1D) research. JDRF’s goal is to progressively remove the impact of T1D from people’s lives until we achieve a world without T1D.
