It's Time For/Charity/Chandler/Researching Type 1 Diabetes

People with T1D would never benefit from JDRF-funded innovations without our donors. The work to create transformational therapies to help people live with T1D cannot—and must not—be allowed to stop because dedicated researchers lack funds. Laboratory studies that are unlocking the mysteries of T1D and accelerating progress toward a cure and prevention must continue. With the generous help of supporters like you, JDRF is pursuing a diversified, dynamic research agenda that is moving us ever closer to a world without T1D.
If you live with T1D, you spend a lot of time thinking about your blood-sugar levels now and worrying about the complications that T1D may one day bring. You don’t want anyone else you love to ever know the physical, emotional and financial toll this disease takes. You want a cure. Chandler, a suburb of Phoenix, Arizona, is located next to the Gila River Indian community. This city of around 240,000, according 2011 information from U.S. Census Bureau, is bustling with activity, but still maintains a hometown feel.
Enjoy the more than 50 parks in the community, maintained by the Chandler Department of Parks and Recreation. Visit Tumbleweed Park, where your kids can play on the Playtopia playground. This playground is broken up into sections, including Farm Land, City Land and Critter Land, with play equipment throughout. Or, stop by the Chandler Skate Park to let the skaters in your family try out the concrete bowls, metal rails and decks. You could also go to Desert Breeze Lake Park where there’s a playground, walking trails, a carousel, train rides and plenty of spots to do some fishing. Each therapeutic area encompasses a diverse portfolio of research programs that span from exploratory to preclinical proof-of-principle and on to clinical proof-of-concept research. The organization’s overarching strategy focuses on addressing critical gaps and challenges, catalyzing innovative and transformational research, advancing and translating research, creating collaborations, and accelerating time lines at all stages of research development. To facilitate downstream partnering and follow-on funding, JDRF increasingly supports product development by “de-risking” projects, thereby decreasing the barriers of entry for future funders. The Health Care and Social Assistance industry includes establishments and services such as:
hospitals, nursing and residential care facilities and out-patient care centres; offices of health practitioners (i.e. dentists, doctors, optometrists and chiropractors); medical and diagnostic laboratories; home health care services; ambulance services; social assistance services (i.e. for children, youth, the elderly, families); community food, housing, emergency and relief services; vocational rehabilitation services; and daycare services JDRF is the leading global organization funding type 1 diabetes (T1D) research. JDRF’s goal is to progressively remove the impact of T1D from people’s lives until we achieve a world without T1D. JDRF has led the search for a cure for T1D since our founding in 1970. In those days, people commonly called the disease “juvenile diabetes” because it was frequently diagnosed in, and strongly associated with, young children. Our organization began as the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation. Later, to emphasize exactly how we planned to end the disease, we added a word and became the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.Today, we know an equal number of children and adults are diagnosed every day—approximately 110 people per day.
