In 2014 a JDRF Ride to Cure took place in Tahoe. Two hundred of people took part in the ride. More than $950,000 was raised. It’s a great social event where everyone who is thoughtful, cares about the future, should take part, ride, donate and get involved. The rout is an amazing mountain road with wonderful scenery. The riders do not just experience a nice ride, but also watch amazing parts of the country. Many people stand by the road and cheer the riders and try to support them. The rout goes through forest roads and mountain hills. It’s an important social ride during which every rider follows one single goal – to help JDRF research team to find the ultimate cure for T1D. Video Credits Column http://broadcaster.beazil.net/public/credits/youtube/videos/150080 You’re the reason for our success. Every dollar we put toward research comes from donations. So when you support JDRF with your time, talent, voice and, yes, your money, you enable us to advance even more research. There are many ways to join the JDRF family, but for 45 years there has been only one reason—because we are the organization that will turn Type One into Type None. Take Action – Don’t be indifferent! JDRF’s research goal is to discover, develop, and deliver advances that progressively remove the impact of T1D from people’s lives until we find a cure. JDRF is driving research across the entire scientific spectrum, from discovery in the laboratory to delivery of new technologies and treatments to people with T1D. The full impact of JDRF’s research investment extends well beyond our direct funding. Now more than ever, we see the value in leveraging partnerships with academia, industry and clinicians to ensure that the most promising research opportunities are funded and accelerated. JDRF often provides early-stage funding to research projects, and the results of those projects often lead to follow-on participation from many other entities – both other not-for-profit funders and corporations. The body breaks down the sugars and starches you eat into a simple sugar called glucose, which it uses for energy. Insulin is a hormone that the body needs to get glucose from the bloodstream into the cells of the body. With the help of insulin therapy and other treatments, even young children can learn to manage their condition and live long, healthy lives.
