JDRF is the leading global organization funding type 1 diabetes (T1D) research. JDRF’s goal is to progressively remove the impact of T1D from people’s lives until we achieve a world without T1D. Media Credits Column http://broadcaster.beazil.net/public/credits/youtube/videos/133968 Spokane is located in Eastern Washington about 20 miles west of Idaho and 110 miles south of the Canadian border. Encompassing around 60 square miles, it has been the largest city between Seattle and Minneapolis and between Calgary and Salt Lake City since it was founded in 1810. For now, doctors don’t know the exact reason that lead to T1D, but they do know that your genes play a role. They also know that Type 1 Diabetes can result when something in the environment, like a virus, tells your immune system to go after your pancreas. Most of people with T1D have signs of this attack, called autoantibodies. They are presented in almost everyone who has the condition when their blood sugar is high. Type 1 diabetes can happen along with other autoimmune diseases, like Grave’s disease or vitiligo. The symptoms are often subtle, but can become severe. JDRF is the only organization with a strategic research plan to end T1D. Our strategies include: Artificial Pancreas Systems Artificial pancreas systems will eliminate blood glucose testing and carb counting by totally automating insulin dosing, initially preventing dangerous low blood sugars and eventually ensuring ideal glucose control. Complications JDRF’s complications research is leading to therapies to treat and even reverse some of the debilitating, costly, and life-threatening complications caused by T1D. JDRF Walk is one of the largest fundraising events. Most people think that the walk is a single day event. Aaron Gurley, JDRF board member shares his experience in this field. He says, that the Walk isn’t a simple funny single day event – it’s 365 days walk for cure. JDRF team every day fundraises money for the research and the walk is one form of this activity. For every T1D person it’s very important to see all people who came to support them. Aaron tells that the walk isn’t about just walking in a funny T-shirt and eating hot-dogs – it’s about raising money. People should be aware about this. Board member must organize the event to reach most of people. The Health Care and Social Assistance sector comprises establishments providing health care and social assistance for individuals. The sector includes both health care and social assistance because it is sometimes difficult to distinguish between the boundaries of these two activities. The industries in this sector are arranged on a continuum starting with those establishments providing medical care exclusively, continuing with those providing health care and social assistance, and finally finishing with those providing only social assistance. The services provided by establishments in this sector are delivered by trained professionals.
