When you have diabetes, you pancreas doesn’t produce insulin. It’s not caused by your diet, it’s not caused by anything you did. T1D can be very serious, the biggest fear all T1D people have is the diabetes complications, which are not always predictable. Parents of T1D children always are in charge of their kids’ life. Diabetes never gives you a second off, it’s always on your mind. It’s really hard to have diabetes, but the families and friends push them every day to be strong. That is what keeps most of T1D people keep along. Every T1D person has a lot of highs and a lot of lows; it’s not easy to explain what it is to manage diabetes every second of your life. JDRF is the only organization with a strategic research plan to end T1D. Our strategies include: Artificial Pancreas Systems Artificial pancreas systems will eliminate blood glucose testing and carb counting by totally automating insulin dosing, initially preventing dangerous low blood sugars and eventually ensuring ideal glucose control. Complications JDRF’s complications research is leading to therapies to treat and even reverse some of the debilitating, costly, and life-threatening complications caused by T1D. We are JDRF – Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. We won’t stop until we create a world without T1D (type one diabetes). We are committed to eradicating type 1 diabetes and its effects for everyone with type 1, and at risk of developing it. T1D treatment options are improving all the time. We are driving research to improve the technology people with T1D use to monitor blood sugar levels and research that will ultimately deliver a cure. Diabetes is a lifelong condition that causes a person’s blood sugar (glucose) level to become too high. The hormone insulin – is responsible for controlling the amount of glucose in the blood.
