JDRF is the leading diabetes foundation funding T1D research. JDRF’s goal is to progressively remove the impact of T1D from people’s lives until we achieve a world without T1D. JDRF collaborates with a wide spectrum of partners and is the only organization with the scientific resources, regulatory influence, and a working plan to better treat, prevent, and eventually cure T1D.
JDRF is currently sponsoring $530 million in scientific research in 17 countries. In 2012 alone, JDRF provided more than $110 million to T1D research.
JDRF’s goal is a world without type 1 diabetes (T1D). Our plan is to create a future where:
– Your blood glucose levels can be controlled automatically
– You can sleep, eat, exercise, and live as if T1D is not in your life
– T1D can be cured and is no longer present in your body
– T1D can be prevented and never threaten anyone again.

Kent is governed by a charter form of government with a council–manager system of nine council members and a mayor. The city is divided into six wards and voters select a mayor, a council member representing their ward, and three at-large council members in staggered four-year terms. The city charter, adopted in 1963, is reviewed by a charter commission every 10 years who then make recommendations for changes, the last review being in 2005. The city council hires a city manager who oversees the day-to-day operations in the various city departments and enforces policies set by council. The mayor serves a largely ceremonial role as president of the council and votes only in the event of a tie. Kent voters approved the change from a mayor-council system to council-manager in 1975 and it went into effect in 1977. JDRF is the leading global organization funding type 1 diabetes (T1D) research. Diabetes usually refers to a group of metabolic diseases in which a person has high blood sugar. It is important for diabetes to be diagnosed early so treatment can be started as soon as possible. As symptoms may no be evident, the ADA recommends that everyone aged 45 and over should be tested for diabetes. Diabetes can be diagnosed through several ways. A1C test can help to measure your average blood glucose for the past 2 to 3 months. If the score is more than 6.5%, diabetes is present. OGT test is a test that checks your blood glucose levels before and 2 hours after you drink a special sweet drink. Random plasma glucose test is a blood check at any time of the day when you have severe diabetes symptoms. Type 1 diabetes in children used to be known as juvenile diabetes or insulin-dependent diabetes. Alternative Names of T1D: Insulin-dependent diabetes; Juvenile onset diabetes; Diabetes – type 1. Type 1 Diabetes – In type 1 diabetes, your immune system mistakenly destroys the cells in your pancreas that make insulin. Your body treats these cells as invaders and destroys them. This can happen over a few weeks, months, or years. When enough beta cells are destroyed, your pancreas stops making insulin, or makes too little insulin. Because the pancreas does not make insulin, insulin needs to be replaced. Insulin does not come in a pill.
