JDRF is the leading global organization funding type 1 diabetes (T1D) research. Our mission is to accelerate life-changing breakthroughs to cure, prevent and treat T1D and its complications. To accomplish this, JDRF has invested nearly $2 billion in research funding since our inception. We are an organization built on a grassroots model of people connecting in their local communities; collaborating regionally for efficiency and broader fundraising impact; and uniting on a national stage to pool resources, passion, and energy. We collaborate with academic institutions policymakers and corporate and industry partners to develop and deliver a pipeline of innovative therapies to people living with T1D. Our staff and volunteers in more than 100 locations throughout the United States and our 6 international affiliates are dedicated to advocacy community engagement and our vision of a world without T1D. pure path capital group Alfred F. Every dollar we put toward research comes from donations. So when you support JDRF with your time, talent, voice and, yes, your money, you enable us to advance even more research. There are many ways to join the JDRF family, but for 45 years there has been only one reason—because we are the organization that will turn Type One into Type None. Take Action – Don’t be indifferent! Type 1 diabetes in children used to be known as juvenile diabetes or insulin-dependent diabetes. If your doctor thinks you have T1D, he will check your blood sugar levels. Many people with T1D lives healthy lives. The key to good health is to keep your blood sugar levels within the range doctor gives you. How is Type 1 Diabetes Different from Type 2 Diabetes? In type 2 diabetes, your body does not use insulin properly. This is called insulin resistance. At first, the beta-cells make extra insulin to make up for it. But, over time your pancreas isn’t able to keep up and can’t make enough insulin to keep your blood glucose levels normal. Type 2 diabetes can be treated with oral medications, and/or insulin.
