JDRF is the leading global organization funding type 1 diabetes (T1D) research. JDRF’s goal is to progressively remove the impact of T1D from people’s lives until we achieve a world without T1D. Video Credits Column http://broadcaster.beazil.net/public/credits/youtube/videos/181705 Newington grew in population and area by the second half of the nineteenth century. Wethersfield had done likewise, and two population centers were produced as a result. One centered on Wethersfield’s inner village still closely tied to the Connecticut River; the other in Newington had developed its own identity distinct from its mother town.
An 1870 map of Newington shows that the town was divided into four districts—the North, the Middle, the South, and the South-east—that ran from east to west. From north to south, four main roads traversed the four districts starting from what is today the West Hartford line extending all the way to the Berlin line to the east. Later the roads would be called the Berlin Turnpike, Main Street, Willard Avenue, and Church Street. The town extended four miles in a north-south direction and three miles in an east-west direction. Ray Allen, a famous basketball player, joined JDRF to help his little son Walker, who was diagnosed with T1D. Ray took a break in his career in order to be a part of JDRF organization and try to do everything to influence the research work. The whole family joined JDRF organization and lead an active life. Walker’s mother shares her experience taking care after Walker. She says that it’s very painful and hard to do all the time finger pins. Insulin is the main vaccine which can keep Walker alive. Ray Allen changed his life and now spends the most of his time with JDRF. It’s important to divide personal time and the duty – the Allens are very thoughtful and caring parents. They do their best to find the cure for Walker. The Allens call up everyone to join JDRF. JDRF’s research mission is to discover, develop and deliver advances that cure, better treat and prevent type 1 diabetes (T1D). As the global leader in the fight against T1D JDRF’s research programs are comprehensive — addressing the hopes and dreams of every person with T1D for the best quality of life and a cure for this disease.

While insulin injections or infusion allow a person with T1D to stay alive, they do not cure the disease, nor do they necessarily prevent the possibility of the disease’s serious effects, which may include: kidney failure, blindness, nerve damage, amputations, heart attack, stroke, and pregnancy complications. Although type 1 diabetes is a serious and difficult disease, treatment options are improving all the time, and people with T1D can lead full and active lives. JDRF is driving research to improve the technology people with T1D use to monitor blood sugar levels and deliver the proper doses of insulin, as well as research that will ultimately deliver a cure.
