Living with Type 1 Diabetes: Islet Transplant

Deb Sissmore is living with Type 1 Diabetes. Deb is a recipient of an experimental Islet Transplant treatment for Diabetes. The transplant allows a Diabetic person’s body to produce insulin again on it’s own. This procedure allows a Diabetic greater control over their Disease and greatly reduce the need for insulin Injections. It is not considered a Cure as of yet.
This story also reinforces the importance of Organ Donation.
