New ‘Green Revolution’ – In partnership with nature
By Peter Maes, Corporate Marketing Director of Koppert Biological Systems
The time has come for a new ‘Green Revolution’ in which the ways we currently produce food are revised and changed. So says the Corporate Marketing Director of Koppert Biological Systems, Peter Maes.
– All the answers regarding future food challenges can be found in nature
– Natural solutions are just waiting to be implemented
– The power to influence change lies with civil society and consumers themselves
‘In order to feed the projected 9 billion people by 2050, we will need to produce more food with less input while maintaining and protecting natural resources. This is where biological and sustainable crop protection solutions can play a vital role,’ he says.
Headquartered in the Netherlands, this international player in biological crop protection and natural pollination maintains that many solutions for agricultural pests can be found in nature itself. According to Peter Maes, they are already available and merely need to be implemented. ‘In this, politicians and legislators have an extremely big responsibility to ensure that they create a framework in which sustainable solutions can be implemented at an accelerated pace. Public opinion holds the key to this issue. The power to influence change increasingly lies with civil society and consumers themselves,’ he declares.
‘We will all benefit from healthy and balanced food – just think of the growing incidence of obesity and diabetes – and it has positive implications for health care. Sustainable and ecologically responsible agriculture has a direct impact on all our lives and the planet,’ says Peter Maes. ‘Last year, we adopted the tagline: ‘Partners with Nature’- Koppert aims to make cultivation healthier, safer and more productive now and in the future. We can’t do this on our own, and it will involve partnership with other parties in the chain. We invite everyone to join us in our partnership with nature.’
Koppert Biological Systems has 26 subsidiaries worldwide and its products are now sold in more than 130 countries.
