NPO Showcase - Spectrum Health's Programa Puente and Fit for Life programs
Programa Puente is a free wellness program that is part of Spectrum Health’s Healthier Communities, an outreach effort to help those at risk for poor health. Programa Puente is directed at the growing Latino population in Kent County, and is a prevention and early detection program aimed at reducing the risk of coronary heart disease and diabetes. Fit for Life is a new program, launching this spring, that aims to accomplish the same goals in the African American and Native American populations. Joanna Rodriguez, Program Nurse for Programa Puente, and Cori Anderson, Supervisor of Fit for Life, discuss the goals of the program and how folks can participate in the programs.
