JDRF has developed transparent organizational goals, as well as a set of research and advocacy objectives and outcomes for the current year by which organizational success will be measured. Measurements include:
– Initiating new clinical trials for artificial pancreas systems
– Developing new approaches to encapsulating islets
– Beginning proof-of-concept clinical trials with existing islet encapsulation approaches
– Trials demonstrating slowing progression of T1D in at-risk patients
– Effectiveness of approved T2D drugs tested in T1D
– Partnering to develop new T1D biomarkers

The nearby Clackamas Indians, also of the Upper Chinookan Linguistic group, located their villages along the Clackamas River. Smallpox, cholera and other Euro-American diseases introduced by early explorers decimated the tribes. By the time Euro-American settlement in the area began, only about 650 Clowwewalla and Cashhooks remained. Their numbers steadily declined into the mid-19th century. After the remnants of the tribes were relocated to the Grand Ronde reservation, they became extinct. If you live with T1D, you spend a lot of time thinking about your blood-sugar levels now and worrying about the complications that T1D may one day bring. You don’t want anyone else you love to ever know the physical, emotional and financial toll this disease takes. You want a cure. So does JDRF. And we are committed to funding the development of new therapies and treatments to keep people with T1D healthier, longer, until that cure is found. That’s why we invest in multiple therapeutic approaches to cure, prevent and treat T1D. We identify and invest in promising therapies in their early stages, helping researchers pursue innovative ideas and approaches. This investment strategy ensures that the most life-changing breakthroughs can make it through the long research, development and delivery process and get to people living with T1D sooner. JDRF is the leading global organization funding type 1 diabetes (T1D) research. JDRF’s goal is to progressively remove the impact of T1D from people’s lives until we achieve a world without T1D. JDRF walk means a lot for every T1D child, who joins the walk. They all deeply thank every participant, because that means a lot for them. T1D kids see that all these people really care about them and are sympathetic to their horrible disease. This JDRF walk is a great social event for every city of America. A great number of people gather together with one common goal – to find the cure for T1D. All T1D children hope, that the cure will soon be found and they will be healthy and safe. During the walk, people are happy and have bright smiles of hope on their faces. Frank words of thanks can be heard from everywhere.
