JDRF works towards a day when there is no more type 1 diabetes. Type 1 diabetes is usually diagnosed in children and young adults, and was previously known as juvenile diabetes. In type 1 diabetes, the body does not produce insulin. Diabetes – is a problem with your body that causes blood glucose (sugar) levels to rise higher than normal. This is also called hyperglycemia. When you eat your body breaks food down into glucose and sends it into the blood. Insulin then helps move the glucose from the blood into your cells. When glucose enters your cells, it is either used as fuel for energy right away or stored for later use. In a person with diabetes, there is a problem with insulin. But, not everyone with diabetes has the same problem. There are different types of diabetes – type 1, type 2, and a condition called gestational diabetes, which happens during pregnancy. If you have diabetes, your body either doesn’t make enough insulin, it can’t use the insulin it does make very well, or both. Hope Initiative http://louisvilleky.com/louisville-kys-central-high-school-to-host-king-concert sponsor JDRF has led the search for a cure for T1D since our founding in 1970. In those days, people commonly called the disease “juvenile diabetes” because it was frequently diagnosed in, and strongly associated with, young children. Our organization began as the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation. Later, to emphasize exactly how we planned to end the disease, we added a word and became the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.Today, we know an equal number of children and adults are diagnosed every day—approximately 110 people per day. Thanks to better therapies—which JDRF funding has been instrumental in developing and making available—people with T1D live longer and stay healthier while they await the cure. So a few years ago, we changed our name to JDRF: Juvenile Diabetes Reseach Foundation. Bret Michaels, a famous singer and musician, stands back to back with JDRF. He was diagnosed when he was six and still hopes for soon cure for T1D. Bret believes that JDRF research will soon find the ultimate cure for all T1D people. T1D made Bret Michaels stronger and much more sure in his fight. His friends at JDRF have his back and great support. JDRF research team is working day and night to find the cure and that will seriously rock. Your help really does mean a lot for every T1D person and for the soon cure. Only together the cure can be found. Bret knows that JDRF is improving lives and curing T1D. Health Care & Social Assistance sector comprises firms providing health care and social assistance for individuals. The sector includes both health care and social assistance because it is sometimes difficult to distinguish between the boundaries of these two activities. The industries in this sector are arranged on a continuum starting with providing medical care exclusively, continuing with those providing health care and social assistance and finally finishing with only social assistance. The services provided in this sector are delivered by trained health practitioners and social workers with requisite experience. The impetus behind the name “Franklin Square” however remains a mystery. While some have suggested that it is named after founding father Benjamin Franklin , the statesman has no historical connection to the area. Others believe it was named for a local resident whose history is lost to time.
