Park Ridge Dentist| Periodontal Disease & Diabetes

DiFranco Periodontics & Dental Implants Presents: Periodontal Disease and Diabetes Studies suggest the link between diabetes and periodontal (gum) disease is a two-way street. Gum disease causes inflammation, making blood sugar more difficult to control. Gum disease has been shown to increase blood sugar, increasing risk of other diabetic complications. Diabetic patients have increased risk of infections, especially if blood sugar is not well-controlled. Diabetic patients with poor blood sugar control are more likely to develop gum disease, to have a more severe case, and to lose more teeth due to gum disease. Let us know if you have diabetes and how well-controlled your blood sugar is before beginning any treatments.
