You’re the reason for our success. Every dollar we put toward research comes from donations. So when you support JDRF with your time, talent, voice and, yes, your money, you enable us to advance even more research. There are many ways to join the JDRF family, but for 45 years there has been only one reason—because we are the organization that will turn Type One into Type None. Take Action – Don’t be indifferent! See full list of Video Credits http://broadcaster.beazil.net/public/credits/youtube/videos/195386 JDRF is the leading global organization funding type 1 diabetes (T1D) research. Our mission is to accelerate life-changing breakthroughs to cure, prevent and treat T1D and its complications. To accomplish this, JDRF has invested nearly $2 billion in research funding since our inception. We are an organization built on a grassroots model of people connecting in their local communities; collaborating regionally for efficiency and broader fundraising impact; and uniting on a national stage to pool resources, passion, and energy. We collaborate with academic institutions policymakers and corporate and industry partners to develop and deliver a pipeline of innovative therapies to people living with T1D. Seven people told about their experience at the JDRF Ride to Cure Diabetes. Everyone during the ride has his own reason to ride and help JDRF. Mike, a T1D rider said that it’s not about being a cyclist, it’s about putting control in the hands of those, affected by T1D. After the ride, Carissa, also a T1D rider became more open about her disease and changed her opinion and even feeling of T1D. She was not a rider at all, but the event changed her complete vision of herself. Robert and John, father and uncle of a T1D child ride for their boy and it’s not a race, it’s a ride to cure the disease. Also it’s a kind a race for the treatment. Chicago Heights, city, Cook county, northeastern Illinois, U.S. It is a suburb of Chicago, about 30 miles (50 km) south of downtown. The city’s name derives from its proximity to Chicago and its elevation, which averages 95 feet (29 metres) above the surrounding area. The site was the intersection of two trails, the Hubbard (from Vincennes, Indiana, to Fort Dearborn on the Chicago River) and the Sauk (used by Native Americans going from their hunting grounds to the fur post at Detroit, Michigan). Settled by Scotch-Irish in the 1830s and known as Thorn Grove, it was renamed Bloom in 1849 by German immigrants to honour a German patriot executed in 1848 in Vienna. The Health Care and Social Assistance sector comprises establishments providing health care and social assistance for individuals. The sector includes both health care and social assistance because it is sometimes difficult to distinguish between the boundaries of these two activities. The industries in this sector are arranged on a continuum starting with those establishments providing medical care exclusively, continuing with those providing health care and social assistance, and finally finishing with those providing only social assistance. The services provided by establishments in this sector are delivered by trained professionals. Type 1 diabetes (T1D) kills the body’s beta cells that produce insulin which gives us the energy we need for everyday life. JDRF’s vision, the Beta Cell Restoration Program, will not only stop the autoimmune attack but also return the number of beta cells to a normal level. JDRF is developing vaccines that will re-train the immune system to eliminate autoimmunity and leave the beta cells alone. Type 1 diabetes (T1D) can occur in anyone—not just kids. If you or an adult you know has recently been diagnosed with T1D, check out the JDRF T1D Care Kit, a free resource containing information and tools to educate, support and inspire newly diagnosed adults.
