Type 1 diabetes (T1D) kills the body’s beta cells that produce insulin which gives us the energy we need for everyday life. JDRF’s vision, the Beta Cell Restoration Program, will not only stop the autoimmune attack but also return the number of beta cells to a normal level. JDRF is developing vaccines that will re-train the immune system to eliminate autoimmunity and leave the beta cells alone.
Type 1 diabetes (T1D) can occur in anyone—not just kids. If you or an adult you know has recently been diagnosed with T1D, check out the JDRF T1D Care Kit, a free resource containing information and tools to educate, support and inspire newly diagnosed adults. JDRF’s mission is to cure, treat and prevent type 1 diabetes!

JDRF’s goal is to progressively remove the impact of T1D from people’s lives until we achieve a world without T1D. Health Care & Social Assistance sector comprises firms providing health care and social assistance for individuals. The sector includes both health care and social assistance because it is sometimes difficult to distinguish between the boundaries of these two activities. The industries in this sector are arranged on a continuum starting with providing medical care exclusively, continuing with those providing health care and social assistance and finally finishing with only social assistance. The services provided in this sector are delivered by trained health practitioners and social workers with requisite experience. The Cherokee, Chickasaw, and Shawnee hunted on this land known as Spring Hill. The soil, rich with the decay of prehistoric vegetation, was a natural attraction to wildlife and Native Americans. Settlers coming with land grants for western expansion valued the beauty and fertility of the rolling hills and natural springs. Early settlers venturing out into the west had a strong faith in the land and the future community. Soon, the community was complete with churches, schools, doctors, lawyers, blacksmiths, and merchants. Beautiful mansions, estates, churches, and plantations created a new landscape. Some of these structures are still standing and reflect the pride of the early people who were the Spring Hill community. Children’s congress at Washington in 2013 was focused on Artificial Pancreas advancement for the millions of Americans living with T1D. Caitlin Ryan, an 11-year-old T1D girl shared her experience and thoughts about this disease. Every kid and Caitlin in particular came to the congress to tell congressmen and other people that it’s hard to live with T1D. For Caitlin and thousands of other T1D people the Artificial Pancreas can’t wait. Caitlin wants to get free from diabetes and she doesn’t want the diabetes to change the speed of her life events – college, driving license, marriage – all these is crucial for T1D people. Having an Artificial Pancreas can make a difference. JDRF’s research goal is to discover, develop, and deliver advances that progressively remove the impact of T1D from people’s lives until we find a cure. JDRF is driving research across the entire scientific spectrum, from discovery in the laboratory to delivery of new technologies and treatments to people with T1D. The full impact of JDRF’s research investment extends well beyond our direct funding. Now more than ever, we see the value in leveraging partnerships with academia, industry and clinicians to ensure that the most promising research opportunities are funded and accelerated.
