She shares her life story and T1D experience. Her disease didn’t prevent her from become a professional sport-player. Her life isn’t easy but she struggles every day and JDRF has her back. Carling dreams to become like her father and her dreams came true. Even though people told her that having diabetes would make that an impossible thing. Nolan has just picked the sport that was slower passed, packed her golf bag full of juice boxes and hit the course. Carling instantly fell in love with this sport and diabetes never slowed her down. Diabetes doesn’t stop her, she is a professional golfer for 4 years now. Type 1 diabetes (T1D) kills the body’s beta cells that produce insulin which gives us the energy we need for everyday life. JDRF’s vision, the Beta Cell Restoration Program, will not only stop the autoimmune attack but also return the number of beta cells to a normal level. JDRF is developing vaccines that will re-train the immune system to eliminate autoimmunity and leave the beta cells alone. Type 1 diabetes (‪T1D‬) can occur in anyone—not just kids.
