Researchers: Alzheimer's resembles a Type 3 diabetes in brain

CINCINNATI (WKRC) – New diabetes research shows what may help protect the brain from Alzheimer’s.

A study from the National Institute on Aging shows that high sugar levels in the brain appear to lead to those same plaques that build up and cause serious memory problems.

Type One Diabetes tends to happen in younger people and children and Type Two is usually later in life as an adult,

Researchers in the study say that Alzheimer’s in the brain resembles a “Type Three” form.

When sugars are high, it appears there is a direct relationship to the brain and memory problems.

It’s one of the reasons everyone should all know the early warning signs that blood sugars are too high.

Now no matter at what age you are diagnosed with diabetes, getting blood sugar levels under control can help prevent future damage to the brain and the body.
