Every parent with a child with T1D has a different life since his child has been diagnosed. John Brady says that even though diabetes is a horrible disease, it waked the whole family up. All members began to be more thoughtful and caring about each other. Diabetes makes people understand that life is fragile and even makes people to value their lives. Two families with T1D kids share their experience about this disease. Fathers thank JDRF research for the treatment which is improving dramatically. The progress is great in treating this disease and this fact inspires greatly. T1D made all members of the families appreciate the time spent together. Especially families are grateful that they live in such a time when the turn-down diabetes can be managed and the lives of every T1D person can become better and easier. People should donate JDRF because it’s a great social organization which will make a revolutionary discovery. Type 1 diabetes is usually diagnosed in children and young adults, and was previously known as juvenile diabetes. In type 1 diabetes, the body does not produce insulin. Diabetes – is a problem with your body that causes blood glucose (sugar) levels to rise higher than normal. This is also called hyperglycemia. When you eat your body breaks food down into glucose and sends it into the blood. Insulin then helps move the glucose from the blood into your cells. When glucose enters your cells, it is either used as fuel for energy right away or stored for later use. In a person with diabetes, there is a problem with insulin. But, not everyone with diabetes has the same problem. There are different types of diabetes – type 1, type 2, and a condition called gestational diabetes, which happens during pregnancy. If you have diabetes, your body either doesn’t make enough insulin, it can’t use the insulin it does make very well, or both. Multiply the millions of people living with type 1 diabetes (T1D) by the hours of sleep lost, finger pricks, insulin injections and pump site changes necessary to manage this disease, and it is clear — T1D takes up too much space in our lives. This November help JDRF raise awareness and educate others on life with T1D.
