Diabetes is the name given to disorders in which the body has trouble regulating its blood glucose or blood sugar levels. There are two major types of diabetes: type 1 and type 2. Type 1 diabetes (T1D) is an autoimmune disease in which a person’s pancreas stops producing insulin, a hormone that enables people to get energy from food. Type 2 diabetes is a metabolic disorder in which a person’s body still produces insulin but is unable to use it effectively. JDRF is the leading global organization focused on type 1 diabetes (T1D) research. Driven by passionate, grassroots volunteers connected to children, adolescents, and adults with this disease, JDRF is the largest charitable supporter of T1D research. For now, doctors don’t know the exact reason that lead to T1D, but they do know that your genes play a role. They also know that Type 1 Diabetes can result when something in the environment, like a virus, tells your immune system to go after your pancreas. Most of people with T1D have signs of this attack, called autoantibodies. They are presented in almost everyone who has the condition when their blood sugar is high. Type 1 diabetes can happen along with other autoimmune diseases, like Grave’s disease or vitiligo. The symptoms are often subtle, but can become severe. Ray Allen, a perfect basketball player, NBA-All Stars, left his career in order to dedicate most of his strength and effort to his son Walker, a small boy with diabetes. Ray made a final shot in his last basketball game and the NBA won the championship, however, in his daily life, Ray does different kinds of shots. Insulin injections, needed by his son are the main goals. Ray Allen and his wife dedicated their life to Walker’s life and joined JDRF. Ray organized a special organization – Ray Allen Golf Classic – focused on raising money for JDRF research. Also, Ray has a Ray of Golf Lunch where people try to help JDRF to beat T1D. BLOOMFIELD took its name, in 1796, from Gen. Joseph Bloomfield, afterwards Governor and chancellor of New Jersey. Local names had become attached previously to separate settlements during the slow growth of a hundred years. “Second River” was designated by the Newark Town Council as a district of Newark in 1743—44 for that portion of the late Bloomfield now known as Belleville. “Cranetown became a popular name for the western portion towards the mountains at about the same early time “Watseson Plain” and “Wattseson Hill” were the hill and the plain in the southern part. “Newtown” was applied to the straggling settlement eastwards well down the present Belleville Avenue.
