Diabetes is the name given to disorders in which the body has trouble regulating its blood glucose or blood sugar levels. There are two major types of diabetes: type 1 and type 2. Type 1 diabetes (T1D) is an autoimmune disease in which a person’s pancreas stops producing insulin, a hormone that enables people to get energy from food. Type 2 diabetes is a metabolic disorder in which a person’s body still produces insulin but is unable to use it effectively.
JDRF is the leading global organization focused on type 1 diabetes (T1D) research. Driven by passionate, grassroots volunteers connected to children, adolescents, and adults with this disease, JDRF is the largest charitable supporter of T1D research.

The body breaks down the sugars and starches you eat into a simple sugar called glucose, which it uses for energy. Insulin is a hormone that the body needs to get glucose from the bloodstream into the cells of the body. With the help of insulin therapy and other treatments, even young children can learn to manage their condition and live long, healthy lives.
Type 1 diabetes signs and symptoms can come on quickly and may include:
Increased thirst;
Frequent urination;
Bed wetting in children who previously didn’t wet the bed during the night;
Extreme hunger;Unintended weight loss;
Irritability and other mood changes;
Fatigue and weakness;
Blurred vision;
In females, a vaginal yeast infection. The Alafaya Census Designated Place had a population of 86,460 as of July 1, 2016. Alafaya ranks in the upper quartile for Diversity Index when compared to the other cities, towns and Census Designated Places (CDPs) in Florida. The primary coordinate point for Alafaya is located at latitude 28.518 and longitude -81.1786 in Orange County. The formal boundaries for the Alafaya Census Designated Place encompass a land area of 37.92 sq. miles and a water area of 0.12 sq. miles. Orange County is in the Eastern time zone (GMT -5). The elevation is 82 feet. The Alafaya Census Designated Place (GNIS ID: 2583321) has a U1 Census Class Code which indicates a census designated place with an official federally recognized name. It also has a Functional Status Code of “S” which identifies a statistical entity. Health Care & Social Assistance sector comprises firms providing health care and social assistance for individuals. The sector includes both health care and social assistance because it is sometimes difficult to distinguish between the boundaries of these two activities. The industries in this sector are arranged on a continuum starting with providing medical care exclusively, continuing with those providing health care and social assistance and finally finishing with only social assistance. The services provided in this sector are delivered by trained health practitioners and social workers with requisite experience. Tom Brobson, JDRF National Director of the research investment opportunities shows all the advantages of the new JDRF device. Artificial pancreas (AP) systems will automate blood-sugar management, dramatically reducing T1D-related risks and improving lives of people who have the disease. These systems will monitor glucose levels around the clock and automatically provide the right amount of insulin, and potentially other blood-sugar stabilizing hormones, at the right time. The heart of the system—sophisticated computer algorithms that live on a smartphone or similar device—will link to a continuous glucose monitor sensor and insulin pump to determine blood sugar trends and control insulin delivery. Tom tested this device for three days and these days were the happiest in his life. JDRF is the leading global organization funding type 1 diabetes (T1D) research. JDRF’s goal is to progressively remove the impact of T1D from people’s lives until we achieve a world without T1D.
