JDRF is the world’s leading charitable funder of type 1 diabetes research and raise money to drive world class research. We aim to find new ways to treat type 1 diabetes and its complications, prevent type 1 from developing and find the cure for people who already have the condition.
JDRF’s research mission is to discover, develop, and deliver advances that cure, better treat, and prevent T1D. As the global leader in the fight against T1D, JDRF’s research programs are comprehensive – addressing the hopes and dreams of every person with T1D for the best quality of life and a cure for this disease.
Millions of people around the world live with type 1 diabetes (T1D), a life-threatening autoimmune disease that strikes both children and adults. There is no way to prevent it, and at present, no cure. JDRF works every day to change this by amassing grassroots support, deep scientific knowledge and strong industry and academic partnerships to fund research. http://www.louisvillefoundation.org/wp-content/uploads/2012/04/2014-2015_UofL_Foundation_Donor_Honor_Roll-WEB.pdf jdrf kentucky aflred Gerriets II juvenile diabetes All Video Credits you can find here http://broadcaster.beazil.net/public/credits/youtube/videos/85339 You’re the reason for our success. Every dollar we put toward research comes from donations. So when you support JDRF with your time, talent, voice and, yes, your money, you enable us to advance even more research. There are many ways to join the JDRF family, but for 45 years there has been only one reason—because we are the organization that will turn Type One into Type None. Take Action – Don’t be indifferent! Type 1 diabetes in children used to be known as juvenile diabetes or insulin-dependent diabetes. If your doctor thinks you have T1D, he will check your blood sugar levels. Many people with T1D lives healthy lives. The key to good health is to keep your blood sugar levels within the range doctor gives you. How is Type 1 Diabetes Different from Type 2 Diabetes? In type 2 diabetes, your body does not use insulin properly. This is called insulin resistance. At first, the beta-cells make extra insulin to make up for it. But, over time your pancreas isn’t able to keep up and can’t make enough insulin to keep your blood glucose levels normal. Type 2 diabetes can be treated with oral medications, and/or insulin. Type 1 diabetes is always treated with insulin. A six-year-old Lynn is a T1D child and a cute boy. Lynn understands that it’s not that good to have such a disease so he needs a cure. Lynn is strongly sure that in his life-time there will be a cure. Little Damian also has diabetes and he is two years-old. All small children with diabetes hope for soon cure and that their lives will be different with JDRF research. Everyone’s help and donation can help to change T1D kid’s lives. Kids with diabetes don’t really understand the whole danger of the disease so it’s important to set them free until this disease will harm their souls.
