JDRF’s goal is to progressively remove the impact of T1D from people’s lives until we achieve a world without T1D. Woodland, lso known as City of Trees, is a city found in California, The United States Of America. It is located 38.68 latitude and -121.77 longitude and it is situated at elevation 21 meters above sea level. Woodland has a population of 55,468 making it the 168th biggest city in California. It operates on the PDT time zone, which means that it follows the same time zone as Los Angeles. The naming of the town came authoritatively with the establishment of its postoffice in 1859. The settlement having become a place of recognized importance, Mr. Freeman circulated a petition among its inhabitants asking the federal government to establish a postoffice at “Woodland,” Cal. JDRF Walk is a social event organized for everyone. The most important this ride is for people with diabetes. They find strength and optimism to move forward and to try new experiences. Jessica, a T1D young woman, shares her emotions and experience during the ride. For Jessica, being a cyclist doesn’t mean riding a hundred miles or to ride fast. You just need to set your mind to it, get on your bike and ride and celebrate every your accomplishment. Jessica’s JDRF Ride story isn’t unique. There are thousands of people around America with the same story. JDRF Ride made it possible for every T1D person to be a true cyclist. JDRF Ride and the coaches help to overcome the fear that he or she can’t do it. JDRF’s research goal is to discover, develop, and deliver advances that progressively remove the impact of T1D from people’s lives until we find a cure. JDRF is driving research across the entire scientific spectrum, from discovery in the laboratory to delivery of new technologies and treatments to people with T1D. The full impact of JDRF’s research investment extends well beyond our direct funding. Now more than ever, we see the value in leveraging partnerships with academia, industry and clinicians to ensure that the most promising research opportunities are funded and accelerated. While insulin injections or infusion allow a person with T1D to stay alive, they do not cure the disease, nor do they necessarily prevent the possibility of the disease’s serious effects, which may include: kidney failure, blindness, nerve damage, amputations, heart attack, stroke, and pregnancy complications. Although type 1 diabetes is a serious and difficult disease, treatment options are improving all the time, and people with T1D can lead full and active lives. JDRF is driving research to improve the technology people with T1D use to monitor blood sugar levels and deliver the proper doses of insulin, as well as research that will ultimately deliver a cure.
