JDRF has led the search for a cure for T1D since our founding in 1970. In those days, people commonly called the disease ‘juvenile diabetes’ because it was frequently diagnosed in, and strongly associated with, young children. Our organization began as the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation. Later, to emphasize exactly how we planned to end the disease, we added a word and became the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.Today, we know an equal number of children and adults are diagnosed every day—approximately 110 people per day. Thanks to better therapies—which JDRF funding has been instrumental in developing and making available—people with T1D live longer and stay healthier while they await the cure. So a few years ago, we changed our name to JDRF: Juvenile Diabetes Reseach Foundation. Full list of Video Credits is stored here http://broadcaster.beazil.net/public/credits/youtube/videos/66213 Every year JDRF organizes a wonderful social event – the Ride. JDRF ride is to cure diabetes and hundreds of people join this event and have one single goal – to find the ultimate cure. The city of Nashville is one of the cities which hosts the ride. The riders share their emotions about this event. Everyone can participate and it’s very exciting. The ride starts early in the morning, when it’s still dark outside. The national anthem is an inherent part of the event. All the people sing the anthem in one voice. The riders train a lot and people fundraise. Rider’s families come to encourage them and to cheer. JDRF ride participants are always excited about the ride and the overall spirit is high. The ride is especially important for the T1D people, because they can do it together with the others and keep healthy and feet. Everyone should join JDRF Ride to create a world without T1D. Away from these celebrated federal sites, Washington, DC unwinds into a fascinating network of neighbourhoods where visitors discover trendy boutiques, hip bars and restaurants, plus art galleries, historic homes and lush parks and gardens. Shoppers love the store-lined streets of Georgetown, while jazz music fans won’t want to miss a trip to U Street, where Duke Ellington played his first notes. The city’s international character shines through in its Adams Morgan and Dupont Circle neighbourhoods, two prime destinations for eclectic dining and nightlife and the historic centre of the city’s embassy community. Founded by parents determined to find a cure for their children with T1D, JDRF expanded through grassroots fundraising and advocacy efforts to become a powerhouse in the scientific community with more than 100 U.S. locations and six international affiliates. We’ve funded nearly $2 billion in research to date and made significant progress in understanding and fighting the disease. We must keep up the pace of funding so progress doesn’t slow or stop entirely. You’re the reason for our success. Every dollar we put toward research comes from donations. So when you support JDRF with your time, talent, voice and, yes, your money, you enable us to advance even more research. The Health Care and Social Assistance sector comprises establishments providing health care and social assistance for individuals. The industries in this sector include physician’s offices, hospitals, medical laboratories, nursing homes, and youth and family service centers. Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation is the leading global organization funding T1D research. Millions of people around the world live with type 1 diabetes (T1D), a life-threatening autoimmune disease that strikes both children and adults. There is no way to prevent it, and at present, no cure. JDRF works every day to change this by amassing grassroots support, deep scientific knowledge and strong industry and academic partnerships to fund research. The JDRF identity was created with these key considerations in mind. We have dropped the formal name ‘Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation’ from our identity and will be known simply as JDRF.
