JDRF has led the search for a cure for T1D since our founding in 1970. In those days, people commonly called the disease “juvenile diabetes” because it was frequently diagnosed in, and strongly associated with, young children. Our organization began as the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation. Later, to emphasize exactly how we planned to end the disease, we added a word and became the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.Today, we know an equal number of children and adults are diagnosed every day—approximately 110 people per day. Thanks to better therapies—which JDRF funding has been instrumental in developing and making available—people with T1D live longer and stay healthier while they await the cure. So a few years ago, we changed our name to JDRF: Juvenile Diabetes Reseach Foundation. hospitals, nursing and residential care facilities and out-patient care centres; offices of health practitioners (i.e. dentists, doctors, optometrists and chiropractors); medical and diagnostic laboratories; home health care services; ambulance services; social assistance services (i.e. for children, youth, the elderly, families); community food, housing, emergency and relief services; vocational rehabilitation services; and daycare services We are JDRF – Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. We won’t stop until we create a world without T1D (type one diabetes). We are committed to eradicating type 1 diabetes and its effects for everyone with type 1, and at risk of developing it. T1D treatment options are improving all the time. We are driving research to improve the technology people with T1D use to monitor blood sugar levels and research that will ultimately deliver a cure. Diabetes is a lifelong condition that causes a person’s blood sugar (glucose) level to become too high. The hormone insulin – is responsible for controlling the amount of glucose in the blood. JDRF’s Mission: is to prevent and cure diabetes and to improve the lives of all people affected by this disease. JDRF – the type 1 diabetes charity. Grace is an incredible girl, her personality and just simple excitement for life, enthusiasm for everything. She is perfect in every other way of life. Despite T1D, Aaron won’t trade anything in their present life. Grace’s family supports her every minute in her difficult disease. Aaron is a board member of JDRF walk and their main aim is to cure and the ultimate mission is to find the cure and to free every man, woman or child from T1D. However, in meantime they need to come up with new and improved technologies. Artificial Pancreas and encapsulation are being developing in the meantime. The quality of life has been greatly improved thanks to JDRF research team. JDRF research team has worked out many technologies which can treat T1D and Aaron believes that soon the prevention will be worked out too. JDRF is focused on bringing life-changing therapies from the lab to the community by impacting every stage of the drug delivery pipeline. Working the pipeline to expedite and sustain meaningful scientific progress, made possible by our donors, is the key to delivering progressively advanced therapies. This means:
– Driving research across the entire scientific and development spectrum, from discovery in the laboratory to delivery in patients
– Collaborating with public, private, academic and corporate partners to expedite delivery of real-world solutions
– Advocating for progress that will improve lives today and lead to a cure tomorrow JDRF is uniquely positioned to create a future without T1D. Juvenile Diabetes fund for the arts Kentucky and Southern Indiana Chapter Alfred Gerriets donor.
