Millions of people around the world live with type 1 diabetes (T1D), a life-threatening autoimmune disease that strikes both children and adults. There is no way to prevent it, and at present, no cure. JDRF works every day to change this by amassing grassroots support, deep scientific knowledge and strong industry and academic partnerships to fund research. JDRF’s goal is to progressively remove the impact of T1D from people’s lives until they achieve a world without T1D. JDRF is a major charitable 501 organization dedicated to funding type 1 diabetes research. JDRF’s stated vision is “a world without type 1 diabetes.” alfred f. Arvada is a beautiful first-ring suburb of Denver, Colorado. Arvada retains a small-town feel even with its estimated population of 113,400. Established in 1870, Arvada enjoys a rich history, quiet tree-lined neighborhoods and a robust mix of business. Our strong civic leadership balances quality of life with an understanding and support of business and economic development. Arvada’s land encompasses nearly 40 square miles. Three proximate interstate highways provide easy access to the larger metropolitan region and Denver International Airport. An extraordinary trail system links with Denver trails on the east and the foothills of the Rocky Mountains to the west, punctuated with thousands of acres of parks and open spaces. Type 1 diabetes (T1D) is an autoimmune disease in which a person’s pancreas stops producing insulin. It occurs when the body’s immune system attacks and destroys the insulin-producing cells in the pancreas, called beta cells. While its causes are not yet entirely understood, scientists believe that both genetic factors and environmental triggers are involved. Its onset has nothing to do with diet or lifestyle. There is nothing you can do to prevent T1D, and—at present—nothing you can do to get rid of it. While people with T1D rely on insulin therapy to control their blood sugar, insulin is not a cure nor does it prevent the possibility of the disease’s serious side effects. In 2011 JDRF Children’s Congress took place at Washington. The Congress lasted for three days and was full of emotions. T1D kids were among people of the same disease and the same problems. They shared their emotions and understood that they were not alone. Then they met other people with diabetes and they told and proved that it is possible to live a full and happy life with diabetes. Diabetes didn’t prevent them from becoming normal people and it was important for kids to know that. Children also sang a song in a chorus the next day and their voices were the best advocacy for the senators and congressmen. The last day was dedicated to the official committee, where crucial JDRF and T1D questions, concerning Artificial Pancreas and soon treatment were discussed. The Health Care and Social Assistance sector comprises establishments providing health care and social assistance for individuals. The industries in this sector include physician’s offices, hospitals, medical laboratories, nursing homes, and youth and family service centers.
