Beat Diabetes with Ayurveda & Yoga.
Diabetes is no longer a disease of the old people but globally every year more than 80,000 children under 15 years are estimated to develop type 1 diabetes; neither it remains a disease of the elites but has gripped all the sections of the society owing to the reason of changed lifestyles of people in cities as well as villages.
Moreover, diabetes does not bring only the physical weakness but mental fatigue too, because a person down with diabetes has to live a life surrounded with high precautions and selective eating which again brings a lot of strain on the patient in maintaining the routine, failing which leads to 1.5 million deaths every year.
Diabetes is a long term disease. Homeopaths resorts to different approaches towards Diabetes. When the blood sugar level is very high, the priority is to control it.
Deficiency of vitamin B12 in mothers during pregnancy may put their child at greater risk of metabolic problems such as type-2 diabetes, scientists including those of Indian origin have warned.
There are Homeopathic remedies that could reduce the sugar. Another approach is to understand the patient’s profile through a patho- physiological profiling and resort to treatment of his illness.
There is yet another approach to understand the patient in depth through a detailed case taking, crate a profile at his physical, mental, social and spiritual level (holistic approach) and then select a constitutional remedy. Each of these approach has its own scope and limitations.
The physician has to take a decision as to what approach is needed on a patient depending on his general health, progress of disease, complications, the organs affected etc.
Vitamin B12 is naturally found in animal products, including fish, meat, poultry, eggs and milk, meaning deficiency is more likely in those following a vegan diet, according to doctors advice.
Poorly managed diabetes acts as a host of long term complications as well like: heart attacks, Strokes, Blindness, Nerve damage, Amputation of Limb, Impotence in men and Pruritus (Itching).
The commonly used remedies are Uranium Nitricum, Phosphoric Acid, Syzygium Jambolanum, Cephalandra Indica etc.
These are classical Homeopathic remedies. These are used in physiologically active doses such as Mother tincture, 3x etc.
depending up on the level of the blood sugar and the requirement of the patient.
Another Biochemic medicine Natrum Phos 3x is widely used with a reasonable success in controlling the blood sugar. Scientific studies on the impact of homeopathic medicines in bringing down blood sugar are limited, but many of the above remedies have some positive effects either as a stand-alone remedy or as an adjunct along with other medications.
The prospective significance of yoga asanas and pranayam saying “Ayurveda talks about 20 forms of Diabetes (Prameha) of which the fire element of the body), and 10 are caused by Kapha (imbalance of the water and earth element of the body) and diabetes is mainly kapha doshaja.
Researchers hypothesised that the changes associated with B12 deficiency may be the result of abnormal levels of leptin — the hormone that tells us we are full after eating.
Leptin is produced by our body’s fat cells and its levels rise in response to eating food. Whilst lean diets are associated with normal levels of leptin, obesity causes levels to rise and remain consistently higher than normal.
This can eventually lead to leptin resistance, continued overeating and an increased risk of insulin resistance, which leads to type-2 diabetes.
Therefore, Yoga Asanas act as a catalyst in balancing the 5 elements of the body which eventually cures the body from innumerable diseases”.
The two common forms of diabetes are type 1 and type 2. Type 1 is not preventable while the latter one can often be avoided. But one can reduce the risk of getting diabetes by following a healthy lifestyle”.
